Are Abdominal Weight Machines Good

Question: How effective are abdominal weighted machines at the gym? How many sets/reps.? Would I still need to do floor work (i.e. crunches)? Thank you for answering my previous questions. Laila

Answer: Laila, Adding weight to your abs exercise can build the size of the ab muscles, rather than making them sleek, which is what most people want. You just have to be careful with weighted ab machines -- low weight and really slow reps (on the crunch and especially on the release). The best thing you can do for your abs is to consciously engage them when you're doing any other exercise, be it strength training, your cardio workout, or just everyday walking and sitting.
