Exercises for Hips and Glutes

Question: I'm female turning 30 soon and am finding that my gluteus and hips seem to be accumulating fat that just wasn't there before. I know that I cannot lose weight in one particular spot, but could you suggest some exercises that may help those areas. Is this an age thing or can I do something about it by changing my diet and exercise? HELP ME!!! ENLARGED

Answer: Dear Enlarged, Age and being female has a lot to do with it. Your metabolism is slowing down, so beginning an exercise program is a good way to keep your metabolism burning. Walking and weight training is the best place to start. Your caloric requirement decreases as you age, so monitor your portions carefully. Please see my Artciles Section to read more about portion sizes.
