Is Cheating on Your Diet Once a Week Okay

Question: I'm on a very strict but sensible diet and exercise program and have had plenty of success but the last few weeks once a week, I've given in to my cravings and eaten pizza and desert. Is this allowed once a week? Because it's getting extremely difficult to maintain the same diet all the time. Also, I've heard that simple carbs right after weights won't make you fat but help your muscle growth. Is this true? Also, is it true that you shouldn't drink water during a meal? Damien

Answer: Damien, Try to eat right 80% of the time, and allow yourself a break the rest of the time -- the 80/20 rule. Overeating anything, carbs, fats or proteins is what makes you fat, not necessarily carbohydrates. And it doesn't have anything to do with eating right after you workout or not. Eat when you're hungry and stop when you're not. Drinking water during a meal is perfectly safe.
