Is my Heart Rate Too High when I Work Out

Question: I am working on my aerobic endurance as it's not very good. But it scares me at times to see my heart rate on the monitor registering at a really high number. I saw 163 and got scared. Does this mean I have a potential heart problem? I stopped right away. Is this dangerous? Tanya

Answer: Tanya, Depending on your age, 163 is not dangerous, but it's not necessary to get it that high. Working out at a lighter intensity will probably make it more enjoyable to you and you will be able to do it for longer.
