Weight Lifting and Taekwondo

Question: I love your site, esp. the Your Questions section!! My question is: I participate in Tae Kwon Do three nights a week (Mon, Tues, & Thurs). I also try to exercise with weights and running during my lunch hour. I am just not sure of which body area I should use the weights on the Tae Kwon Do nights. The TKD classes usually run about an hour long, and I stretch for an hour before each class. I am a 25 year old female weighing about 180 lbs. right now. Thank you so much... Tiff

Answer: Tiff, Don't do weights on the TKD nights, as the class will be enough exertion on your body. Do a full body weights workout on alternate days, keeping the weights relatively light so as not to overstrain your muscles. Keep up the stretching and make sure to include a rest day during the week, too - that's essential!
