Eating Healthy on The Run

Question: I work 7p-7a in a busy ER, and rarely get a chance to eat a meal. What can I do to eat well on the run, and not have to resort to the vending machines? Thanks, Terri

Answer: Terri, Plan your meals on one day, like Sunday, for the rest of the week. Include snacks, like fruit, yogurt and string cheese in the little packets in case hunger strikes. Meals could include things like: sandwiches, soup, non-packaged low-fat cheese & crackers, etc. The planning stage is the most important part, along with making the effort to bring your own food.

There are also some healthy vending machines which have things like nuts, granola bars, protein bars, etc.
