How to Not Get Shin Splints when Running

Question: Whenever I try to run, I get a shin-splint in my right leg. Last year I was able to run on the treadmil w/o pain, but since then I hit the spot(actually ran something)where the pain is, and no matter what I run on, it hurts. Unfortunatley, running seems to be the only thing that helps me lose weight. Besides ice and stretches, do you recommend anything? fm

Answer: fm, I would also suggest you try new high-quality running shoes (no less than $75) and, if that doesn't improve things, try a visit to a podiatrist.
