In Home Personal Training Business

Question: I am interested in working with people in their homes what guidelines do you have for this, for your safety, as well as the clients? Also, do you have any good business advice for a beginner, and is the field as good as most claim? Great job on the web site!! Patti

Answer: Patti, In my experience, home workouts don't get as good results as gym workouts. Adequate leg workouts are almost impossible without the right equipment, which usually tends to be too heavy to carry. It's also a hassle: traveling and carrying any needed equipment. As a beginner, make sure you get a decent certification from an organization such as ACE. I would suggest that you get one or two clients to start off with, working in a gym, at a lower cost. Gain confidence and learn from experience. Supplement your learning as much as you can by asking and watching other trainers, taking classes, visiting internet sites. Helping clients reach goals to improve their health and well-being is highly rewarding, although the personal trainer field is highly competitive: a well-educated person who obviously cares about his or her clients will stand out above the rest.
