Shins Hurt After Exercise

Question: I am a 32 y.o. who just recently joined weight watchers (90 pounds to lose) and have embarked on an exercise regime (joined a gym). I have lost 11 pounds so far and have worked myself up to walking 1 hour on the treadmill at 3.5mph. What should my target heart rate be, and how long into the workout should I reach it. I have found that my shins are "killing me". I am stretching before and after. Can you help? Does this sound like a good start? Hilary.

Answer: Hilary, You're definitely on the right track with Weight Watchers and consistent exercise. Go to the Articles section to determine your personal heart rate information. Your shins are in the process of being strengthened while you're walking. Give it time and they will stop hurting.
