Weight Gain Program for Soccer Players

Question: I have a 15-year-old daughter who is a state-level soccer player. She is 5'8 and weighs 120 lbs. She wants to get stronger. She runs and does jump training programs regularly. She is competing against players who are 20 - 25 lbs. heavier and she is being moved off the ball to easily. Any advice? She has a very low body fat %. Jeff

Answer: Jeff, I would suggest that your daughter increase her caloric intake by eating five meals per day consisting mostly of complex carbohydrates and low-fat proteins. In addition to her lower-body conditioning, upper-body weight training will help balance her strength and solidify her stability.
