Weight Loss after Fourth Child

Question: I have four children. After my second child I exercised 5 days a week for an average of 30 minutes per day and watched everything I ate and lost weight successfully. Now, after my fourth child I have implemented the same program that was successful before but am having no luck losing weight. Any suggestions?

Answer: Try increasing your exercise time. Instead of 30 minutes, go for 45 minutes. Is this cardiovascular exercise you're talking about, or something else? Since you're a little older now than you were after the other kids, that could contribute to your difficulty in getting off the weight. As people age, the body needs fewer calories to support itself because metabolically-active lean body mass decreases with age, especially without strength training. You may want to try going longer, and then re-evaluate the program after a month of consistent effort. Good luck! I recently weaned my baby, so I've also been shedding pounds that were brought on by continuing to eat like I did while I was still nursing. It's hard to get the old body back!!
